Kali Abdullah is a seasoned Photo Editor with an educational background in photography, and over ten years of experience photo editing and producing, primarily in the publishing industry. While studying photography at Pratt Institute, Kali was introduced to the world of magazine publishing while serving as an intern for the Source Magazine. After graduating she began working as a Production Assistant and fell in love with the responsibility of coordinating photo shoots. In 2002 she was hired by Essence Magazine where she served as a Photo Editor on the start up magazine Suede.
For over five years she served as the Photography Director for several magazines at Harris Publications. She worked simultaneously on publications such as King Magazine, Scratch Magazine and Antenna Magazine, where she was responsible for assigning work, production and visual content. In 2009 Kali founded Drawing Board Productions, which has allowed her to broaden her palette and consult on the production of several media endeavors, including print, video, film and event planning. With Drawing Board Productions as her creative conduit, she has expanded her influence to other platforms such as Wall Street Journal, Atlantic Records, Respect Magazine, Ebony Magazine, Jet Magazine and Institutional Investor Magazine.
Kali Abdullah, who has often been given the title "miracle worker", strives to make the hardest task achievable. While she takes the job of management and production very seriously, she does it with a grounded and even-tempered style, making any production a stress-free and enjoyable environment.
